Hotel Novochoro  3

Myself and 3 friends stayed here in August for 1 week, We are girls in our 30s! It was a relaxing holiday and we didnt want anything too busy. The complex and grounds are really nice and well kept. The pool is very quiet during the day when we stayed not many kids around. The rooms are really basic but they are clean and the staff were very helpful and very approachable. The apartments are outside the main strip about 10mins in a taxi away -it is defo not a 10 minute walk more like 25 min walk but in saying that the apartments have a shuttle bus throughout the day to take you into the old and new town for 1 euro per person. Think 10.30, 3pm, 4.30 and 7pm. We took advantage of this sevice. The staff will order you a taxi they sometimes take about 30mins to arrive thou as it is very busy in evenings. The taxi would cost about 6-8 euros into town. The old town is great and worth a visit, we enjoyed the live music until 11.30pm. Plenty of steakhouses and cocktail bars available and loads of shops to browse around. Great time here. Would not recommend to families with small children who want to be near the beach and town. Defo small groups who dont mind being a little outside the action but nothing that can be sorted with a short taxi ride. Just back from the novochoro apartments we paid almost 500 euro each for 10 days not worth the money what so ever!!!!!! got there and was gutted with the apartment, we were placed in the old block of aprtments we did get a huge balcony which we did ask for but this is all I was happy about. Cons of these apartments and resort- no air conditioning in 36 degree heat, beds so hard and had 2 push 2 singles togther, toilet leaking, I would describe shower as a watering can, staff very unhelpful to say the least very poor English. The Cons of this holiday mainly reflect the apartments as seen above. Portugal is a beautiful city and we spent most of our time in the old town would not stay in these OLD apartments will look for better value somewhere else at an acceptable standard which we did not get. Had an excellent holiday at the Novochoro apartments. The apartment and the entire complex were spotless. Our apartment was cleaned and towels changed 4 times during our week long stay. The complex isn't too large so there was never any problem in getting a sun lounger. The pool is average in size but once again very clean if a little cold (but this was a good thing given the weather in August). After searching for proper information on these apartments for weeks before hand and getting no where, we resorted to the fact that it must be a dump. In reality, the accomodation is a plesant self catering villa which consists of 15 very large 1 and 2 bedroom apartments.1 bedroom apts have a huge balcony with a table and chairs. Each apartment is kitted out with utensils, towels, microwave, Tv etc. The pool area is very pleasant with a small bar and reception beside it. Food and drink are served between 9am and 7pm. When you first arrive there, your first impression is that its miles off the beaten track, but you will find after exploring that the top of the strip is only about 1km away at the Hotel Montechoro. Here you will find enough bars and restaurants to keep you occupied. Taxis in Montechoro+Albufeira are excellent. One night we timed the taxi and it took 1 min and 40 sec to arrive after we phoned. Taxis always charged a fiver €5 to go from Novochoro to the strip or to Albufeira Old town which is less than about 3 miles away. This is regardless of the amount of passengers. All in all,everyone enjoyed themselves. i would recommend this place to everyone but must insist, on arrival, you will think you have been dumped in the middle of no where. Its no where near as bad as it first seems!!! Trust me. PS, nearest bar is 20 metres away across the road. Its down a couple of steps beside Cafe Nascimento and is called O Martins. Its not irish though. You can get breakfast here to if you want but breakfast at poolside bar is much nicer, and cheaper. Email me anytime for more info!
