Hotel Balaia Plaza  APTH4

Just returned from a 'girlie' weekend away to Portugal, where we spent three nights at the Balaia Plaza Aparthotel in Albufeira. Accommodation was very spacious, and spotlessly clean ! We have just got back from a week in Balaia Plaza, we had a good time. A few gripes though, the light switches were not too safe, plastic covers missing. Mould round the bath, but not too bad. Furniture dated but serves it's purpose. Cleaner came in every day but 1 and made the beds but didn't change the sheets all week. On the plus side, rooms were big and fairly clean. Kitchen was fairly well equipped and everything worked properly including the toaster and microwave. Hotel staff were pleasant, bar staff in the sister hotel were very nice and helpful, and had a good selection of takeaway food available. The Strip was about 15-20 mins walk away but lots of bars on the walk up to it. Most selling beer at 1 Euro a pint. We arranged transfers through the hotel and Club Class Concierge and were very pleased with the service we received, was good to be picked up by English speaking drivers. The beach was nice but not ideal if you had difficulties with walking. The supermarket at the hotel was well stocked and reasonably priced. Overall the hotel was ok as a base, not the quietest of places though. We checked out at 11 am but our flight was much later so we were allowed to store our luggage in a secure room, large sofas available in the lobby while we waited. Internet access available but only 1 computer and no english speaking channels on the tv apart from at the weekends. Read more Hide description
