Great hotel, beautiful and comfortable, and the receptionists were very friendly and helpful. Eurostars has a great location: very close to the pleasant Avenida da Liberdade, which ends at Praça dos Restauradores, and walking a bit more, you'll get to the beautiful Praça de Dom Pedro, and shortly, Baixa and Chiado. The hotel is also close to the subway station (5 minutes walking) and street Barata Salgueiro, where there are some cute restaurantes and a simple cafeteria called Café Picasso where I had an amazing cream pie. Eurostars Das Letras was an excellent hotel. Staff was great - happy to help us with anything we asked for. Lobby was very nice, rooms were very nice (but typical nice European hotel room). It was very close to the main shopping street, but at least a 10 minute walk from Historical sites. It was an excellent value for the money. Read more Hide description

We booked the 'romantic' package-our room was lovely, on the 7th floor with a view of the Castelo from the balcony. The bottle of good quality sparkling wine and fresh fruit was a real treat to return to after a bit of sightseeing on the first night. The room was spotless, the bathroom well equipped and modern and the bed and pillows extremely comfortable. A thoughtful addition was the radio & CD player which made up for the lack of English channels channels on the tv. The breakfast was excellent, great choice and plenty of it. All the staff we met were really friendly and made us feel very welcome. It's in a good location - 15 minutes walk from the city centre, although the hill up to it is a killer after a day of hard sightseeing!! There is nothing about this hotel that we did not like and we would definitely recommend it - it's a chain hotel that doesn't feel like one. It feels friendly, intimate and homely. Although the hotel was immaculate, the rooms slick and comfortable, the breakfast beautiful it was the hotel staff that were the best. Located just one stop out of the centre travel was easy with the bus and train stops just a couple of minutes away. A really nice hotel that it is difficult to find any significant criticism, perhaps the internet was a little slow at times, but I suffer that at home. We did not use the bar or eat any meal other than the breakfast which was very well supplied with a range of fresh fruits, hams, breads cereals, bacon, eggs etc . which was all quality fresh produce. They even had my favourite earl grey tea. If you book this hotel as we did with a deal including the breakfast it is a real bargain as at 18 euros a go it could be an unexpected extra on the bill. Yes the hill is a bit steep - but the hotel gives you conveniently located access to the Barrio Alto (great area for restaurants and bars) 15 mins up the hill - and the metro / Avenida da Liberdade (shopping and sight seeing) 10 mins down the hill. Nice breakfast, nice rooms. Very comfortable hotel - I would consider this to be a four star hotel - and would probably stay here again. Taxi from the airport was around 20 euros - but the aerobus gets you to within walking distance of the hotel and is only 3.5 euros! Get a multiple day metro pass - this also gives you bus and tram as well. 2nd time to Lisbon - wonderful city. Read more Hide description

I spent really good time in this hotel -we stayed for 3 days and I can fully recommend this place. We started in the morning with excellent breakfast incl. wide vairety of fruit menu. Unfortunately there seems to be a problem with a free table as number of tables as not corresponding with the size of the hotel so it is likely that you will need to wait for a free one. Very firendly and helpful staff especially waiters made our staying comfortable. One thing which made me a little bit unhappy is the hotel boy helping with the bags -it always strange for me and I do not like this kind of service. Good location -not in the old town as it might have been noisy but in a peaceful area within a walking distance to all interesting places: Santa Justa elevator, main squares and Alafama. It might look a little bit long for someone who got used to go everywhere by car, but we found it healty and relaxing, especially that all the days we use cars. I was a little bit suprised when I looked through the window -there was an awful wall of another building and some other bulinigs and the view was not nice, so as for the 5stars hotel. We stayed a week at the Eurostars Das Letras and were very pleased. The hotel is a block away from the Avenida station. As others have noted, it's up a hill from Ave. da Liberdade. It is an easier, but slightly longer, walk to go north along Ave. da Liberdade from the station, turn left at the corner at the Veneza Lisboa, go a block and then turn left again; the direct walk up R. do Salitre is a bit steep. The location was great for us -- it is in a quiet neighborhood but only a 10-minute walk to Rossio or to Pombal. The staff was very attentive and pleasant -- including the front desk, the bar and the breakfast room. The breakfast is extensive with hot offerings and lots of fruit, pastries, juices and breads. The rooms are modern and clean; not luxurious but very comfortable. We found the wi-fi to be a bit frustrating; the hotel's system requires you to enter an access name and passcode each time you log on and it sometimes kicked us off line in mid-session requiring a reconnection (and re-entry of the access name and passcode); we have both a laptop and a tablet and experienced this on both devices. That was about our only frustration; all-in-all our stay was very pleasant and we will probably return to this hotel on our next trip to Lisbon. Read more Hide description

A very nice, modern and quiet hotel set on a hilltop on a five minutes walk from Avenida (the boulevard and the metro station). Great staff; Hugo, who greeted us upon arrival, was very knowledgeable about Lisbon (it was our first visit to the Portuguese capital), the sights to see, good restaurants, etc. Our standard room was bright, spacious and clean and came with a large king-size bed and massage shower. Wifi was fast. In the morning, a nice breakfast buffet is served with a great variety of choices and local quality products such as fresh cold meats and cheese and Portuguese pastries and cake. Again, very attentive staff attending to the breakfast area. We mainly chose this hotel based on its value for money and don't be fooled here, despite the modest room rates this hotel offered all the comforts of a 4/5-star hotel, bar a swimming pool (perhaps the only thing that could be improved...). Mind however that the steep climb up-hill from Avenida to the hotel might be strenous to older people. Read more Hide description

A very good and modern hotel. I had a room on the 6th floor. It was very quiet and comfortable. The interior is a bit dark to my tast, but it is new and modern - so everyting works very well. Staff is helpful and speak good english. Breakfast was bussy, but there was alway enough tables and food was ok. But I do not find this a real 5* hotel - more like 4*+. Read more Hide description

My partner and I spent four days here over Easter. The hotel is quiet, clean and modern with very helpful staff. The room was comfortable with the biggest double bed I have ever seen! Breakfast was plentiful with a reasonable choice. I would certainly stay here again. Read more Hide description

My husband and I stayed in this hotel after a 10 day cruise that ended in Lisbon. Our room and bathroom were very nice. The front desk was most helpful every time we needed assistance. They recommended great restaurants, spoke excellent English, helped us connect with our tour guide, and were overall extremely polite. The hotel is in a great location. We highly recommend this hotel. Very reasonably priced. Free wifi but they were having trouble with the wifi and we could only get it in the lobby. They also have 2 computers in the business center where we were able to use the computer and print boarding passes. Read more Hide description

I have stayed in 5* and this hotel is not 5*. I stayed for four nights on a city break, booking directly with the hotel on the internet, getting a deal which included 48 hours local travel on the buses and trams. I was allocated a room on the 7th floor, overlooking the street outside the hotel entrance. Quite happy as it had a balcony which if the sun shines you will get the sun all afternoon. Only rooms on floors 6 and above appear to have balconies. The hotel reception staff and breakfast staff are excellent, very helpful. The hotel has a good location, turn right out of the hotel, right again, and you end up on the main street into the centre, cutting out the steep hill if you turn left. Room was cleaned everyday unfortunately the cleaner did not not speak even when spoken to. Breakfast was ok, only hot food available was scrambled egg and bacon. So far so good. THE ROOM;- Tea making facilties, yes there was a kettle, with sugar, and 4 tea bags. No Coffee and no milk, despite asking the cleaner. Ended up going to reception who said they dont provide milk in the room but would fetch some up which they did. When you need milk you have to ask recpetion, the same goes for coffee. Radio/CD Player.. Did not work. No coffee machine as per room description. Only one english speaking channel onTV. Horrible smell in the room for the full stay, a smell of sewage. Average shower, which didnt work, until recpetion fixed it. If I was to visit Lisbon again, I would consider staying at other hotels, having said that , would not hesitate to stop here again, but hotel should without any doubt be advertised as a 4 star. I have just returned from Lisbon after staying at this hotel. Couple of points i'd like to make, tho i really don't want to sound like one of those people who moan about everything and nothing!!!! I'd like to start with the positives, of which there were enough for me to recommend the hotel. First and foremost was the staff.......( well apart from the cleaner, bit surly and un-helpful) The staff were very kind/friendly and helpful. Bonus points to breakfast staff, one in particular, sorry cant remember his name but if you go there you'd know who i mean! Very chatty/friendly and helpful also. The reception was lovely as was the room. However i would not class this hotel as 5*, perhaps a four but little things let it down, and in my eyes would exclude it from a 5* rating. Someone mentioned the glass bathroom door, and although i didn't like this i wouldn't mark the hotel down because of it. Although it was a pain at night when you went into the bathroom and didn't want to put the light on incase the light disturbed other occupants. The bathroom nice, shower looked impressive, but not for anyone under 5ft 4" !! Got in it on arrival but some of the spray attachments which i thought were for a massaging effect were face height so not such a relaxing shower after all. Also the shower had a smell of 'drains'. I thought this was perhaps because it had been raining quite heavily, but it was there the entire stay and at times turned my stomach. Although my sense of smell may be more fine tuned than others. I'd also like to say that surely it would be possible for a five star hotel supplying a decent tv in the room to have Sky installed. Given the fact the weather was quite bad at times, we dashed back to the room when a thunder storm arrived and all we could watch in English was BBC World news, sorry but i'm really not that interested in Rhino's in Zimbabwe or wherever, especially after the same stories rolled round and i'd heard it more than three times. Even Sky news would have been preferable. But as i point out, this was supposed to be a 5* hotel and i find it difficult to understand why more channels could not be made available??? You can go to lower grade hotels and have even a small selection of English channels. I appreciate we don't go away to watch tv but given the bad weather it would have been nice. Another negative was the 'supposed' tea/coffee facilities. Yes there was a kettle, but no coffee supplied and no milk. We bought coffee sachets, after asking the cleaner if she could get us some, (she said no), however in the hotels defence we did ask at reception and they did supply us with some sachets, (so why couldn't the cleaner)? I even left her a little note in portugese asking if she could leave us some, still none!! Also no milk, when we asked about this we were told the hotel didn't supply milk as it would go off!! Really?? After staying in numerous hotels, the rooms have always had a supply of small cartons of milk, you know the type, peel back lids. So why couldn't this 5* hotel do the same? A small point especially for the ladies, why when a nice room has been designed do they not put a mirror in the room, especially by the dressing table so you can sit down and do your make up, plug in your hair straightners etc? I plugged my straightners in the bathroom tho i'm sure in the UK this would not be encouraged. Sorry if this all sounds negative, the hotel was nice............ honest!! I'd just not class it as 5*. A good modern hotel in a great location. Friendly, helpful staff. Rooms very clean, all linen changed daily. We had a room on the quiet side away from the lifts. The bed was huge and comfortable. Breakfast was included in our 'deal'. Good selection of fruit, cereals, rolls, bread to toast, scrambled eggs and bacon. We asked for fresh coffee and the staff were only too pleased to oblige. We didn't find the hill to the hotel too bad although we found the pavements extremely slippy (wear flat shoes). Travelling around Lisbon is so simple. Buy a 5euro 24 hours travel ticket at the metro station and you can travel on buses, veniculars and metro for the period. We paid 20 euros for a taxi from the airport to hotel. On our return to the airport the hotel booked us a taxi and it only cost 9 euros!! Would recommend the hotel ,although it is not a 5 star having no pool and no evening restaurant. We stayed in Lisbon for a few days. The people at the front desk were friendly and helpful. Here are a few things to consider: 1. We really liked the room. It had nice and clean lines, with a good flat screen TV, furniture and the washroom was a good size 2. When we made a small request to front desk, it was taken care of immediately, which we really appreciated 3. 2 free Internet / computers for guests to use in the lobby 4. We took the airport bus to the hotel and dragged our suitcases to the hotel. It was a steep uphill. However, later we found out if you take the tube for one more stop, you can avoid the steep hill especially after a long day of sightseeing :) 5. There was a small grocery store a few blocks from the hotel. It did not carry the best nor freshest selection of fruits, but it was good to be able to pick up small things during our stay 6. There is not a lot of restaurants immediately close to the hotel, but you will find some a few blocks away. Overall, we enjoyed staying at the hotel.
